Product Photography | The Five Types of Product Photos

1. Lifestyle

This is an ideal way to showcase your products in a “real life” setting to exhibit their use and purpose. Additionally this allows your customer to envision your product in their own space. We create you product story from the viewpoint of a fictional customer.

2. Styled

Styled photos are a fusion of product listing and lifestyle. The focus of the photo will remain on your product but the inclusion of props or creative displays adds visual intrigue to the photos.

3. Modeled

Featuring your product on or being used by a model is a highly effective marketing tool. This brings your design to life. This can be as simple as a hand showing off a ring to a head to toe feature. The clothing, setting and model are all visual representation of your brand.

4. Flatlay

A social media classic. Flatlays are taken from above providing a birds-eye view of your product. The inclusion of on brand props that compliment your product completes the styled look.

5. Product

Clean, minimal - just your product. Perfect for listings and wholesale catalogs. Remember to let your photographer know if you would like additional shots such various angles, labels, variations, etc.

Some Additional Tips!

  • Provide me with any information you have on your ideal audience. Even if you are still working that out let’s talk through what you do know and figure out those details together.

  • Share inspiration. Not sure how to describe something? Send me a picture, show me your Pinterest board, link me to an account. My goal is never to copy but understanding what appeals to you guides me in my design.

  • Tell me what you DON’T like! Pink not your thing? No problem. Not into florals? Boom - they are gone.

  • Check out my portfolio. See what clicks with you. This lets me know the angles, lighting, etc that you like.

  • Don’t feel weird explaining to me the “vibe” or “feeling” you are going for. If you want to portray kindness with your candles we can do that.
